Squeaky Hinge Olive Oil is a small family-owned business, run by Simon Gibbard and Nicola Mulvena, and located in the small farming community of Tarras, 30km north of Cromwell.

The olive grove, which consists of 350 trees, was established in 2002, and bought by the couple in 2011, who have since turned it into a well-established and thriving producer of top quality Extra Virgin olive oil. The oil is used in many restaurants and cafes throughout the South Island and has also developed a loyal following of private customers.

Although Squeaky Hinge Olive Oil is a big producer of olive oil in Central Otago, Simon and Nicola prefer to be involved in as much of the harvesting and production stage of the oil as they can.

Harvesting of the olives is a social occasion, with friends and family all lending a hand with the huge job. All of the olives are picked by hand to ensure minimal damage to the olives. After picking, the olives are processed off-site, in Cromwell, with the oil left to settle, before Nicola and her team bottle and label it by hand.

Nicola and Simon are committed to producing olive oil of the highest quality and welcome any enquiries from new and existing customers.
